Richard Spence Carr, age 78, of the Taylorsville Community, passed away early Sunday morning, March 16, 2025, at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman. He was born Dec. 27, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late Wilbur Edward and Helen Ruth (Spence) Carr. He spent most of his life in the Taylorsville area. Richard was a 1964 graduate of Whiteoak High School. He attended The Ohio State University and was a four-year member of The Ohio State Marching Band. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1968. He received his U.S. Army Commission through ROTC and spent six months in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, until he received orders for the 14th Armored Calvary Regiment in Bad Hersfeld, West Germany. He then went to Ben Hoa, South Vietnam to be with the 1st Air Calvary Division for a year and achieved the rank of Captain. He then resigned his commission on his way back to the United States.
